
ALEX KANAKARIS: INTERNET INNOVATOR, AUTHOR AND CREATOR
Alex Kanakaris is an Internet innovator, author and creator. He was an early visionary on the delivery of movies, music and books on the Internet. Alex delivered the first online movie in December 1995 (A Perfect Gift on his website Cyberpop) and the first e-books where you could turn pages without scrolling and change the size of type on the page (WordPop 1994). (Alex is pictured above with his daughter and only child Rachel and lives with wife Shelley and daughter in Southern California).

RECOGNIZED INTERNET AUTHORITY
Mr. Kanakaris was interviewed about the future of the Internet on national TV twice by the “father of the Internet “ (and winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom), Vinton Cerf, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google. Mr. Kanakaris was also a guest speaker in Beijing, China in 2007 for a global Internet conference (appearing live on China national TV), and has spoken on Internet panels around the world. In Sweden, Mr. Kanakaris demonstrated the first wireless delivery of a movie to laptop users (at the airport serving Stockholm , 2001). Mr. Kanakaris is the author of Signs of Intelligent life on the Internet (5 stars, Amazon). Mr. Kanakaris was a principal and President of Desience Corporation, a successful creator of command and control enclosures for clients including NASA (and successfully sold the Company which continues to grow).
EARLY CAREER HISTORY
Mr. Kanakaris has been a writer since childhood, and his first published articles appeared when he was 13 years old in Linn‘s Stamp News. These articles, entitled East European Spectrum, documented the unique identities and histories of these countries. His background includes involvement with marketing for electronics and fashion companies.
One of his earliest jobs was personal assistant to the late George Atkinson, the founding father of home video (winner of Video Man of the Year by the VSDA, President of the 600+ store Video Station and Coast Video distribution, and a key player in the Right of First Sale Doctrine Supreme Court case). For Mr. Atkinson, Kanakaris wrote newsletters (the Video Critic) and literature that helped define the way home entertainment evolved. He has also served as Editor-in-Chief to L.A. Pop Magazine and Video Swapper magazine.
COMMUNITY
Alex is a car collector and is establishing a foundation that will include the One-of-One Car Museum for Kids (and Adults). He is an expert on the global water crisis and an advocate for clean drinking water for the world and children’s issues.
CHARITIES AND FAMILY
His previous charity work includes teaching about the Internet to inner city school children (working with AEFK- Athletes and Entertainers for Kids). He attended college at the University of California, Santa Cruz and was a 1974 graduate of Pacific Grove (California) High School. Mr. Kanakaris was born in Northern California, resides in Southern California with his wife and five year old daughter, and conducts business on a global level.
